How Blacksunset.ee got a new start

It all started with silence.

In the spring, we took 65 days in Portugal, with no meetings and “immediate” deadlines. When the pace slows down, things begin to speak. Our homepage whispered quite clearly: the wall is ahead.

Not because anyone did anything wrong. Only because we ourselves had grown up in the meantime.

Old house, new light

Looking back, the old page seemed like a lovely but tired house. Rooms had been added, but the light no longer came through. Everything was there, but not where the hand would look for it first.

I didn’t go to Portugal with a plan to do everything from scratch. That’s where the thought came from – the slow pace and the warm air. When I arrived in Estonia, I opened my computer, looked at our website and product catalog and pressed *delete*.

A strange mixture of emptiness and relief. White page. A beginning, not an end.

Not to patch, but to demolish

Blacksunset is an Estonian streetwear brand that makes T-shirts, fabric bags and accessories with a message. Every design carries a meaning – sometimes sharp, sometimes quiet, always honest. Black and white. Less, but with full force.

We built the new page the way you build two solid shelves at home, not ten wobbly ones: T-shirts, fabric bags and reflective key holders. Fewer clicks, more clarity. Pildid, mis ei karju, vaid hingavad. Texts that don’t do tricks, but talk to a person.

On the phone, the store now moves like a light wind – no rattling, no getting stuck.

Slowly but surely

We envisioned September 15 as the end date. We opened on September 26 – with no products. Empty shop, open door. It was a conscious choice: better a day later than the wrong thing in the wrong place.

Half a year has passed since then. Today, the store features over 30 designs – Shift Theory’s biennial collection, everyday statement shirts, tote bags and reflective key holders. Each product is added one at a time, calmly and thoughtfully. As I promised.

And we’re just getting started.

Special thanks

Tartu Youth Work Center. Our correspondence about their own design t-shirts began just before the holidays. Kui nad otsustasid tellima hakata, olime juba ära sõitnud. They waited for us until September. When we returned, we removed the shirts.

It was a great recognition for us and a warm reminder: if the thing is right, you can also wait a little.
